Welcome to the Mental Health Association in California: assuring that everyone who needs mental health care has access to the appropriate level of care. There are hundreds of mental illnesses and literally trillions of combinations of illnesses with other life-factors (e.g. culture, gender, environment, intelligence, stress, nutrition, age, etc.) such that mental health deals with more variables and possibilities than are even calculated in a NASA space launch.
Hosted by the National Mental Health Commission of Australia, the meetings focused on sharing best practices and experiences, providing the represented organizations with opportunities for collaboration that benefit not only their own countries, but international audiences as well.
Throw in the issue of someone having a low IQ, and then their interpretation of events and understanding of the questions on the tests becomes a whole new ballgame – some tests can’t be used at lower intelligence levels, and administering a different test isn’t going to give you the exact same results.
If such an approach were taken by a documentary team interested in the experiences of those with mental health difficulties, it would be unsurprising if that raised significant concerns from people experiencing mental health difficulties and those working clinically with those people.
Bradley also co-hosted an event at the Consulate General of Canada in Sydney, with Consul General Mario Ste-Marie, where she discussed the MHCC’s role as a catalyst for improving the mental health system and its initiatives related to workplace mental health, housing and homelessness, stigma and knowledge exchange.
