Over the years, national mental health leaders and other prominent individuals have rung the Bell to mark the continued progress in the fight for victory over mental illnesses. I’m not an expert so I don’t know what represents a mental illness compared to what represents normal feelings everyone encounters as they journey through life, but there are experts out there, so if you feel you might benefit from getting help please do so. If that feels like too much, maybe just talking to someone might help in deciding what the best thing to do is. There are many options out there, including just picking up a phone and calling someone from somewhere you feel comfortable.

First, mental illness” is pretty much universal and there isn’t really any way to escape it. Nearly all of us are going to experience it or are going to be exposed to it. For example, almost everyone is going to experience some form of depression in our lifetimes in varying severities.
The causalities of mental illness are widely varied, as are the severities, and even the outcomes as numerous as the people who have it. Don’t forget other issues like anxiety or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) that are experienced by so many of our police, first- responders, veterans, victims of violent crimes and world tragedies, or even those who live in high-crime areas.
